Religious Complexity.

There is no question we live in a age of complexity including religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found in religious circles. Instead we have programs, methods, organizations and numerous nervous activities which occupy our time and attention but never satisfies the longing of our heart for intimacy because it robs us of relationship with God.

The shallowness of our inner experience, the hollowness of our worship, and the imitation of the world which marks our promotional methods all testify that we, in this day, know God only superficially and the the peace of God scarcely.

If we want to find God amid all the religious trappings we must first determine to free ourselves from these trappings, and then proceed in the way of simplicity. The evil habit of seeking God-plus, effectively prevents us from finding God in full revelation. In the "plus" lies our wretchedness. If we omit the "plus" we shall soon find God, and in Him we shall find what we have all our lives been secretly longing, the joy of being the Church.
