Is God really the Villain of the Old Testament or has He been wrongly accused? If He has been wrongly accused, who is Responsible for the False Accusation? Part 13

Part 13

Based on what we have been discussing...how should we as Believers treat the Old Testament? The correct answer is, like Jesus did! By the Spirit of Christ that lives within us, we are able ministers and very capable of dividing the word according to 2 Cor, 3:6, Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life, but that entails that we KNOW Jesus, not just know about Him!

If we want to know what God is like...we have to observe Jesus. He was and is the expression of God. He displayed God. And He showed us that God is compassionate, kind and loving. He is not hiding behind some corner with a big stick waiting to pounce on us when we do wrong.

Jesus said that He and His Father are one. He also said that if you have seen Me you have seen God. Therefore, it is only through Jesus that we see who God truly is; we do not find out who God really is by reading the Old Testament, nor reading the Law, or the Prophets... we can only know Him through Jesus.  He is the expression of the Father’s beauty, heart, love, grace, truth, and nature. If you cannot find what you believe God is like in the person of Jesus Christ, then what you believe about God is not correct and should be abandoned.  The person of Jesus, His nature, and His work on the Cross are what we base our beliefs on.  Jesus Christ is the perfect theology, the perfect doctrine, that means that my theology and doctrine as well as your theology and doctrine regarding God is not right if it is anything other than the theology and doctrine of Jesus Christ, He is the perfect mirror to view God through!

What do we know about Jesus that we can attribute to God’s character? Jesus didn’t cause sickness...He healed it, therefore, God does not cause sickness...He heals it. Jesus didn’t cause natural disasters...He stopped them, therefore, God does not cause natural disasters...He stops them. Jesus did not condemn the sinner...He loved. accepted and forgave them, therefore, God doesn’t condemn the sinner...He loves. accepts and forgives them. Jesus didn’t pour His retribution out upon sinful man...He forgave sinful man therefore, God doesn’t pour retribution out on sinful man...He forgives sinful man.

Jesus said of Himself in John 17:6 that He “revealed” the Father. Jesus spelled out the very character of God in detail! We no longer have to depend on what religious leaders tell us God is like, because we have Jesus, Who was and is, the express image of His Father.
