Is the "Living Word," "The Bible. Part 1.

The Bible is the written word that points to the LIVING WORD but, it is NOT the LIVING WORD...JESUS IS THE LIVING WORD! The Bible read through the lens of Jesus and the cross...instead of reading it as a rule book to follow through religious eyes...is the only way to get a true picture of what God is like and what the true Gospel is."

The above post prompted this response from one individual. The quote is quoted as it was written without any editing.

Start Quote..."The Bible is a living book: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb.4:12)

The Bible is a preserved book: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. (Isa. 40:8)The Bible is the Word of God: LORD stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me, "Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.(Jer. 1:9)

The Bible is a book of reality: Peter said For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.(2Pet.1:16)

The Bible is an inerrant book: Jesus said If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; (John 10:35)

We find that Jesus endorsed the Old Testament, Peter endorsed Paul`s writing and so on.

2Tim.3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

"All Scripture that even includes historical facts. Some things were written as examples for our warning. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.(1Cor.10:11)

We are living in time when modern day Chrstians do not want to hear doctrine be reproved or corrected. The Bible says time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine but heap unto themselves teachers having itching ears.(2 Tim. 4:3) End Quote.

This person seems to be a firm believer that when the word "word" is used in scripture it means the Bible. Does the person realize that there was no Bible when these words were written. How would this passage sound if the word "word" meant the bible.

For the bible of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb.4:12)

The Bible is a preserved book: The grass withers, the flower fades: but the bible of our God shall stand for ever. (Isa. 40:8)

The Bible is the Word of God: LORD stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me, "Behold, I have put My bible in your mouth.(Jer. 1:9)

The Bible is an inerrant book: Jesus said If he called them gods, unto whom the bible of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; (John 10:35).

Let me now quote a well know passage; from John chapter one. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God....14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

In accordance with the belief of the individual who responded this passage would read as such...In the beginning was the Bible, and the Bible was with God, and the Bible was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God....14 And the Bible became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Sound absurd? It does because Jesus is the WORD of God, not the bible. The scripture itself does not call the "bible" the living word, nor does it claim that the bible is the "word of God". Yet in their deception, men do.

Now lets rephrase the passage using the word "word" with the word Jesus the word of Jesus speaks.

For the word of Jesus is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb.4:12)

The grass withers, the flower fades: but Jesus the Word of God shall stand for ever. (Isa. 40:8)

LORD stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me, "Behold, I have put My word in your mouth.(Jer. 1:9)

Jesus said; If he called them gods, unto whom Jesus the Word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; (John 10:35).

And the passage I quoted from John...In the beginning was Jesus , and Jesus was with God, 2 He was in the beginning with God....14 And Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The bible is the written word about the LIVING WORD, but it is not the LIVING WORD...Jesus is!

The MAXIMIZING of the bible is a MINIMIZING of Jesus.
The IDOLIZING of the bible causes the FICTIONALIZING of its truth.
The BASTARDIZING of the bible is COMPROMISING its correct context.
The DEIFICATION of the bible is an ABOMINATION unto God.

At least, that is the way I see it.

Part 2 to follow.
