Who would Jesus Torture?
Why do so many Christians sing the song of “gloom, doom, despair and agony on me” and encourage people to take a stand against what is happening on the world scene, because if not we will be tortured due to terrorist attacks, and our cities being flattened by tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and typhoons...all brought on by God because of the sins of the people?
As if that wasn’t enough, the vast majority of Christians believe, support and purport the endless torture of the unbelieving dead...including, the billions that have never heard the gospel, those who have never heard about Jesus, infants and children, teenagers and adults who have never said the “sinner’s prayer”...all brought on by God because of people’s sins.
Wow...this God is a very revengeful God! In essence the vast majority of God’s creation that He created because of His love, He knew before He created them would spend eternity in the torture chamber. Is there not something wrong with this doctrine that paints such a grotesque monster of our loving and graceful God?
When we research the history of Christianity, it is not so uprising as to the reason most Christians think this way....after all, Christianity is no stranger to torture, on times even being the cause of it. It is the Christian religion that brought us the Inquisition...the Crusades...and the burning of witches and other people on stakes who would not go along with their beliefs. Religion is what fueled the thinking of the Ku-Klux-Klan and their murderous killings. Though the Christian religion is not so blatant about it today as during the inquisition and the Crusades, nevertheless, torture carries on today in the form of mental anguish to children and grown ups alike, because of assigning their dead unbelieving friends and family members to eternal hell flames. So perhaps it makes sense that Christians are more supportive of eternal torture and that God Himself condemns people to the torture chamber...as is preached by the fear-mongers in the modern Church.
This eternal damnation and torture is believed by most evangelicals, fundamentalists, conservatives and liberals whether they be Protestants or Catholics and teach that God’s holiness is the reason God sanctions it. They mouth that “God is good...BUT...He is also holy therefore, must punish sin. God says, “Be ye holy as I am holy", mmmmmmmm, is that why Christians torture people? Really, the Pope is considered a “Holy Person” by many people, yet the same people who claim that God sanctions the torture of people would never agree with the Pope sanctioning the torture of people. Really, does God’s holiness justify torture?
Well, what does Christ say? “I came not into the world to condemn the world but that people should be saved.”
Without knowing it, religion is giving the devil victory and portraying that he is more persuasive and powerful than God. Although God loves everyone and wills that all be apart of His kingdom they teach that the devil gets the vast majority of His creation to suffer for eternity in the torture chamber of hell...and get this...God is the one who has ordained it! Wow, how ironic. Imagine believing that God created all these people so the devil could have them!
Why do religious people believe that a loving, merciful and compassionate God justifies such a diabolical atrocity.
I wonder...do Christians support torture because…religion is evil? Ex. Centuries of torture, inquisition, war, the temporal power of church, corruption, abuse, greed, incitement to violence, cruelty, racism, dehumanization, slavery, devaluation of women, exploitation, etc., has been carried out by religion in the name of God....is that not evil?

Really good article. I agree. Jesus never taught torture, or condemnation. He taught love, forgiveness and mercy. You would think more Christians would act like Christ. Instead, they blaspheme His teachings and slander His name, all in an effort to justify the unjustifiable.

ReplyDeleteIt is "human nature" We justify our understanding and opposes others. But - God ways are so above our ways and His thoughts are much beyond our thoughts... Thus the reason for prayer and forgiveness... AMEN
Is a torture less gospel from Satan or Christ. Lets see what the Scriptures say.
ReplyDeleteIs the grace preacher Paul right or is the modern day grace proponents right. Did Paul say anything about the vengence of God? Lets let him answer it himself.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
7 and to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels,
8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
What did Christ say about torture? Right now there`s all kind of iniquity being done in kingdom of God but the Son of man here is Christ who one day will cast them out of His kingdom into a furnace of fire.
Matthew 13:41-42
41 The Son of Man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend and them that do iniquity,
42 and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Christ warned about being tortured in fires of hell.
Matthew 18:8-98Therefore if thy hand or thy foot cause thee to fall, cut them off and cast them from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire.
9And if thine eye cause thee to fall, pluck it out and cast it from thee; it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
There is coming a separation of sheep and goats.
Matthew 25:4121st Century
41 “Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Matthew 25:4621st Century
46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.”
Christ told John that those who worships the antichrist and takes his mark will be tortured.
Revelation 14:10-11
10 the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out unmixed into the cup of His indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”
When Christ comes back those of us who have the true gospel of grace are going to be with Him riding upon a white horse watching Him as He smites the nations.
Revelation 19:11-16
11 And I saw Heaven opened, and behold, a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written that no man knew, but He Himself.
13 And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood, and His name is called, The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in Heaven, clothed in fine linen white and clean, followed Him upon white horses.
15 And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword with which He shall smite the nations, and He shall rule them with a rod of iron; and He treadeth the wine press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written: King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
The antichrist and his false prophet will be tormented forever and forever.
Revelation 20:1021st Century
10And the devil who had deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
So it is the devil who has deceive us into thinking the Gospel of Christ is torture less.
