Is Religious Christainity only a Pure Relationship with Jesus?

When Christian people are asked, what is the difference between Christianity and other belief systems, the answer is usually, “other belief systems are religious, but Christianity is not a religion it is a relationship, our faith is based on intimate relationship, not religious obligations” Does that mean that there are no religious obligations for Christians? The response is, “that’s right, we don’t have any religious obligations. Except of course...you must tithe, attend church on Sundays, submit to spiritual leaders, support the building fund, volunteer your time for committees, attend mid-week services, read your bible daily, don’t go to movies, don’t smoke, etc. etc. Besides those minor exceptions and a host of unspoken rules, Christianity is nothing but a 100% pure relationship with Jesus”.

I wonder....what would Jesus have to say about that?
