The Way of Knowing God.
1 Corinthians 2:9-16 reads; But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.
Traditionally religion teaches that verse 9 applies to what awaits believers in the life beyond. Orr even worse...taken completely out of context and applied to material blessings God desires to bless us with upon this earth. This interpretation is the work of the mind of denominated seminarian trained men, not the mind of God's ordained Teacher...His Spirit. This man interpreted teaching seriously limits and promotes a “we will understand it better by and by in the hereafter” mentality, and on the other hand, focuses on the things of the world.
The passage assures us that “God has revealed [past tense] them to us through His Spirit.” However the flow of thought does not stop there. “For the Spirit searches [present tense] all things, even the depths of God.” God designed that spiritual things not be taught by denominated doctrinally trained because the finite mind of man cannot comprehend the ways and thing of God. But, it is His Spirit that teaches us the depth of the richness of His wisdom and knowledge concerning all spiritual things which to the finite mind of man are past finding out (Romans 11:23).
What is beyond our knowing with our natural knower can be known through our spiritual knower (our spirit) in tune with God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the teacher of truth that God has given to His people and is the only means by which spiritual revelation can be trusted as authentic. The denominated theologians and preachers that people seek out for spiritual insight, more often than not, are influenced by man induced insight that is added to the original revelation receive by the Spirit thus, polluting the revelation of God. “It is the Spirit that gives witness because the Spirit us truth” (1 John 5-6). “If a man thinks he knows anything he knows knows nothing yet as he ought to know” (1 Cor. 8:2).
Herein lies the admonition not to trust the teachings of people influenced by denominated doctrines that are man-made and man-ordained because they are not pure nor are they Spirit taught...or if they were initially Spirit taught they have added man's ideas to it and polluted its purity.
The Spirit continuously searches (present tense) spiritual things and is available to teach it to believers, instead believers sit at the feet of the religious spiritual icons and drink from a polluted well of deception and bypass drinking from the pure well of the Spirit.
This is the great need in the Community of the Redeemed today! Do we know...are we experiencing this great searching of the Spirit of Truth? Is the Spirit Teacher free to enrich us with spiritual truth or ave we closed of the faucet by our dependence on the religious elite?
“Who knows the spirit of a man, except the spirit of man which is in Him?” “Likewise NO ONE knows the Spirit of God except the Spirit of God.”
This is paramount to understand. You cannot learn the depth of spiritual things in denominated seminaries, bible schools or being a member of some denomination. Men cannot teach the wisdom and knowledge of God for they abide in the Spirit who alone searches all things and imparts the reality of them to whom He wills.
Tell me...if we were taught by the Spirit and moved and had our being in the Spirit, would the myriad of segregated denominations that exist with their different doctrines, all claiming to be founded on the truth of God?
I think not!
